SAFRA was present at the Rencontres Nationales du Transport Public
SAFRA is taking part in the 25th Rencontres Nationales du Transport Public, which will be held this year in Lyon from 30 September to 2 October. The opportunity for the company to present on its stand its new Bus projects, its current and upcoming demonstrations, but also to highlight its know-how in the fields of renovation of passenger transport equipment.
On stand 14 located in hall 3 . 2, the Safra stand presents a Businova in the colours of the Marseille metropolis. This is the novelty of this show, since the company Safra and RTM will test the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle on the Marseille network, as part of a demonstration of several months. The company’s news also includes the commissioning of three vehicles on the Gaillac, Albi and Toulouse networks.
Experimentation is underway in Gaillac, where the vehicle runs on the famous «Transverse», the new free line of the Gaillac transport network, the Shuttle, since April 2015. The configuration of the line allows the Businova a test phase in l 00% electric mode. After more than 8,000 km travelled on the line, the vehicle already announces very promising results: an electricity consumption of only 1,1 kW per kilometer. The second test phase, which will be launched in 2016 when the line is lengthened, will make it possible to use the complete multi-hybridization thus providing a fuel consumption of the order of l 01/ l 00 km, against 35 1 for a traditional bus.
Two other Businova are currently in the white-walk phase, on the cities of Albi, and Toulouse, with a release on these two networks in the coming weeks. The Toulouse network Tisséo, intends to test this bus on 4 different lines, for 8 months, with very different configurations.
Other networks in the French territory have also announced their intention to order, such as the city of Périgueux which was able to test the vehicle last May. At the international level, it is Quebec, which will embark on the adventure with a North America version of the vehicle. Transdev Canada confirmed its interest with a letter of intent for 25 vehicles. This will be an opportunity for the Albigense company to develop an international activity, by launching a subsidiary SAFRA Québec, with the ambition of manufacturing Businova specific to the «cold» market.
In the upcoming news, Businova will also be exhibiting on Lyon, during the Rencontres Nationales du Transport Public, will be present at the Busworld show from 16 to 21 October in Belgium in Kortrijk, for a worldwide visibility. At the end of the year, the vehicle will be exhibited in partnership with ADEME, on the «World Efficiency Gallery» at Le Bourget during the COP21, global conference on climate change, from 2 to 9 December, event that will bring together many heads of state from around the world.
Under development, a 12m version (currently 10.50m), highly anticipated on the market, is being manufactured in Albigensian workshops. This new model will be operated on the Métropole de Marseille, including the RTM network, which is turning to electric buses and is preparing to meet the challenges of the energy transition.
